Alameda-based Singulex said this week that it has raised $19M in a venture financing round, led by JAFCO Co., Ltd. The firm said that the round also included prior investors Orbimed Advisors and Fisk Ventures. Hironori Hozoji of JAFCO Life Science Investment will join the company's board along with the funding. Singulex said it will use the funding to deploy its products and services into the market. Singulex develops biomarkers used for detecting diseases in biological samples; the firm is targeting its first product towards cardiovascular disease risk diagnostics.
