Computing giant Microsoft said Thursday morning that it is cutting 5,000 employees. Number of Silicon Valley employees affected by the move was not disclosed, however, the firm said that the job reductions will be across R&D, marketing, sales, finance, legal, HR, and IT. Microsoft said 1,400 of its employees are being let go today, with the remainder throughout the next 18 months.
