eBay's Voice-over-IP calling service, Skype, said this morning that it has rolled out a new product beta that connects its services into the open SIP voice-over-IP standard. According to Skype, the new beta product, Skype for SIP is targeted at allowing businesses to connect their SIP-based phone systems directly into Skype. Skype said that the beta supports SIP-enabled PBX phone systems supporting the G.279 codec, and allows businesses to call any Skype customer using their phone systems.
