San Mateo-based Datameer, a developer of data analytics software based on Apache Hadoop, said today that it has raised $2.5M in a Series A funding round. The round came from Redpoint Ventures. As part of the funding, John Walecka of Redpoint joins the company's board of directors. Datameer also said it has released a beta of its software, Datameer Analytics Solution (DAS), which gives Apache Hadoop a spreadsheet interface, helping to reduce the technical barriers to analyzing huge amounts of data with Hadoop.
