Visa said today that the two are in a definitive agreement for Visa to purchase CyberSource, in a deal worth approximately $2.0 billion. According to the two companies, Visa will pay $26.00 per share for publicly held CyberSource, which the firms said processes approximately 25 percent of all e-commerce dollars in the United States. CyberSource operates its e-commerce services under its own brand as as Authorize.Net. Visa said the buy would increase usage of Visa debit, prepaid, and credit products, increase adoption of CyberSource's secure payment data hosting solutions, and help CyberSource expand internationally.
