Gene Security Network Snags $12M More
Redwood City-based Gene Security Network, a provider of molecular diagnostics products for single cell testing for chromosome abnormalities and genetic diseases, said today that it has raised $12M in a Series C funding round. The round was led by Sequoia Capital, and also included Claremont Creek Ventures, Founders Fund, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Gene Security Network's tests are being targeted toward the in vitro fertilization market (IVF) market, to be able to test the genetics of an embryo based on a single cell. The firm is targeted at reducing the rate of birth defects in IVF by pre-screening embryos for genetic diseases.
