Santa Clara-based
Cell Biosciences, a developer of scientific equipment for protein analysis, said Thursday that it has acquired
Brightwell Technologies, in a deal worth $9M in cash. Brightwell was based in Ottawa, Ontario, and develops micro-flow imaging analytics equipment.
Cell Biosciences said Brightwell's expected 2011 revenues are approximately $5M; Brightwell had 30 employees. As part of the acquisition, Cell Biosciences said it raised $13M in a second tranche of its Series F funding, from
Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, Novo A/S,
Domain Associates,
Latterell Venture Partners,
Royal Bank of Canada, The Vertical Group and Lansing Brown Investments.
