Mountain View-based
Lytro, which is developing digital cameras technology which can render photos in any focal plane, launched today, with $50M in backing from Andreessen Horowitz. The firm is based on research out of Stanford by Dr. Ren Ng. The firm says its "light field" technology captures as much information it can and allows users to focus in on any area of a photograph, capturing dramatically more information than typical digital cameras. The firm plans to launch its first product later this year.
