Sand Hill Road Wins In First Half Fundraising
A report released this morning by Dow Jones shows that Sand Hill Road is winning the race in terms of institutional investments in venture capital. According to Dow Jones, $8.1 billion in new capital went into 50 new venture capital funds in the first half of the year--with most of that going to brand name, Sand Hills Road investors. That investment is 20 percent more than the similar period last year, when $6.8 billion went into 81 venture funds. In fact, according to the NVCA, in the last quarter, over half the money raised by venture capital funds in Q2 came from Accel Partners and two of its funds.
