Atmel Buys Advanced Digital Design
San Jose-based Atmel said this morning that it has acquired Advanced Digital Design, S.A., a Spanish developer of power line communications chips. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. ADD semiconductor designs systems-on-a-chip for power line communications, which is being applied to building automation, lighting, and solar power. Atmel said the acquisition will complement its existing line of smart energy products.
