MoBeam Focuses In On $4.9M
Cupertion-based Mobeam, a developer of technology which enables red laser scanners to read barcodes on mobile phones, said Monday that it has raised $4.9M in a Series A funding round. The funding came from yet2Ventures, Samsung Ventures and Mitsui, along with others. Mobeam said it is developing technology which enables common red laser scanners to actually read barcodes on mobile phones; currently, those screens do not work well with retail scanners. Mobeam said it uses existing LEDs on mobile phones to beam barcodes to red laser scanners. The firm is headed by Chris Sellers.
