PrivateCore Secures $2.25M
Menlo Park-based PrivateCore, a new startup headed by VMware and Google veterans, said Wednesday that it has raised $2.25M in a seed funding round. The round was led by Foundation Capital. PrivateCore is developing a secure, hypervisor which enables companies to have a "private" virtual machine, where only the owner of that virtual machine has access to the data -- as opposed to the current case, where service providers also have access to that data, another potential security exposure. PrivateCore is headed by Oded Horovitz and Dr. Stephen Weis. Horovitz worked on VMware's VShield and VMsafe security products, and Weis worke don Google's two-step verification systems.
