Coursera Raises $3.7M For Online Education
Mountain View-based Coursera, which allows students to take university classes online--for free--has raised $3.7M more, from two universities. Coursera said that the California Institute of TEchnology and University of Pennsylvania have invested a combined $3.7M in the company. The investments came as Coursera said it has inked agreements to add free courses from Caltech, Duke, EPFL (Lausanne), Georgia Tech, Johns Hopkins, Illinois, Rice, UCSF, University of Edinburgh, University of Toronto, UVA and the University of Washington. THe firm's other backers include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and New Enterprise Associates.
