Coursera, an online education site which features free, online courses from universities, said today that it has raised $49.5M in the first part of a series C funding. The funding came from New Enterprise Associates, and also included Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, International Finance, GSV Asset Management, Learn Capital, and Times Internet. The company expects to raise $60M in the round after it closes. Coursera is led by Rick Levin.
