Cisco Buys Irish Wi-FI Technology Firm ThinkSmart
San Jose-based Cisco said this morning that it has acquired ThinkSmart Technologies, a developer of Wi-Fi location data analytics software. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Cisco said the acquisition will help provide better customer experience in public venues such as retail locations, hotels, and airports. ThinkSmart's software uses Wi-Fi location information to track customers with a venue, including when they are in a location, traffic, and dwell times, which can be used for managing staffing and for other retail management.
