Optimedica Acquired By Abbott For $400M

, a developer of laser-based, opthalmic surgery devices, has been acquired by
Abbot Medical Optics
in a deal worth $250M in cash, plus up to $150M in earn out milestones. Optimedica is venture backed by Alloy Ventures and Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers. According to Abbott, Optimedia's acquisition will allow it to expand its vision care business into the femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery market.
