Blue Coat Systems Acquires Elastica In $280M Deal
Sunnyvale-based Blue Coat Systems, the manufacturer of web security gateways and related security products, said late this morning that it is acquiring San Jose-based Elastica, in a deal worth $280M. According to Blue Coat, it will use the acquisition to help bolster its cloud-based security stack. Elastica's was backed by Mayfield Fund, and had first raised $6.3M in its Series A funding back in February of 2014, and looks to have raised around $34M in total since then.
