, a developer of version control and build management software for source code, has been acquired by private equity investor

, the two said today. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. Perforce had been founded in 1995 by Christopher Seiwald. As part of the acquisition, Summit Partners has named Janet Dryer as CEO of Perforce. Dryer was most recently CEO and Executive Chairwoman of HelpSystems. Summit Partners' C.J. Fitzgerald joins the company's board as part of the acquisition, as do Peter Rottier and Scott Ferguson. Perforce was advised by Shea & Company in the acquisition.
