Smaato Acquired By Chinese Company For $148M
San Francisco-based Smaato, a developer of mobile advertising software, is being acquired by Chinese company Spearhead Integrated Marketing Communication Group, in a deal worth $148M. Smaato helps mobile app developers include ads in their apps. Smaato says it has more than 90,000 publishers and app developers using its product. The company's backers include Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH), Aeris CAPITAL, EDBI, and others.
