Venture capital investments in companies around the nation totaled up to close to $15 billion in Q3, spread across 1800 companies, according to a report from the
National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), in its first report issued in conjunction with data provider PitchBook. The NVCA said the third quarter was the fifth straight, quarterly decline in the number of companies receiving venture investment, and a 32 percent, quarter-over-quarter decline. Bobby Franklin, President and CEO of the NVCA, said in a statement that "venture investment activity is moderating a bit" but called the activity "very active". The NVCA/Pitchbook report also said $32.4 billion was raised in 2016 across 201 investment funds.
