Alpaca Picks Up $3M For Stock Trading Via API
San Mateo-based Alpaca, a fintech startup which allows third party software developers to automate the buying and trading of stock through its application programming interface (API), has raised $3M in what it calls a "pre Series A" investment. The seed funding round brings its total raised to $6M. The funding came from Japanese firm Global Brain, Chihiro Asano (former CTO of MoneyForward), D4V (Design for Ventures), Eric Di Benedetto, the Berkeley Angel Network, Archetype, and Joshua S. Levine (former CTO/COO of ETRADE Financial). Yoshi Yokokawa is CEO and co-founder of Alpaca.
