SendBird, which develops a chat and messaging application programming interface (API) service, said this morning that it has raised $52M in its Series B funding round. The funding was led by ICONIQ Capital, and also included Shasta Ventures, August Capital, Y Combinator, and Funders Club. SendBird's service helps mobile and web applications developers create chat functions in their apps, and is used by such customers as the NBA, Yahoo! Sports, Glu Mobile, Accolade, Dream11, and Zepeto. The company says it now has nearly 12,000 applications using its API tools. SendBird is led by CEO John S. Kim.
