Web.com Acquires Register.com

San Francisco-based private equity firm Vector Capital said Monday afternoon that it has reached an agreement to sell its portfolio firm, Register.com, to Web.com. The deal is worth $135M. Register.com is a provider of domain name registration, website design, and management services. Vector Capital had taken Register.com private in November of 2005, in a deal worth $200M in cash. Vector said the sale of Register.com--combined with recaps in 2006 and 2007 of Register.com--"creates a great outcome for Vector's investors."
