VUDU Launches Rich Internet Software

Santa Clara-based VUDU, a manufacturer of a multimedia receiver for downloading movies off the Internet, said today that it has launched a new service which will download web-hosted, rich applications and services to its player. According to VUDU, those applications include casual games, photo sharing sites like Flickr and Picasa, and access to video sites like YouTube. the new applications are optimized for VUDU's television interface and for running on set-top boxes. Vudu is venture backed by Greylock Partners and Benchmark Capital.
