Santa Clara-based ViVOtech, which develops contactless and mobile phone payment technology, has received an equity investment from Motrola Ventures, Motorola said today. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed. ViVOtech provides technology which uses short-range, wireless connections to payment systems. OTher backers of ViVOtech are First Data Corporation, NCR, Nokia, Alloy Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, DFJ Gotham Ventures, and Miven Venture Partners. The investment by Motorola follows an initial close of funding by the firm in May, plus an additional tranche in the Series C round in August.
