DeviceVM Raises $1M
San Jose-based DeviceVM, a developer of a rapid start technology ("Splashtop") for launching operating systems, said today that it has received $1M in an investment from Merus Capital. Merus is a new venture capital firm founded by Salman Ullah, Sean Dempsey, and Peter Hsing. Ullah and Dempsey or both formerly of Google, Hsing is formerly of Microsoft. DeviceVM said the round brings the company's total equity funding to $22M. DeviceVM also said that it has added Larry Augustin, founder of VA Linux/SourceForge, to its board of directors.
