San Francisco-based Kongregate, a web site focused on independent casual games, said very late Wednesday that it has raised $3M from Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com, through his firm Bezos Expeditions. According to the firm, the investment will allow the firm to scale rapidly, and to secure advertising and promotional partners. The firm has previously received funding from Greylock Partners, Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn, Joe Kraus of Excite, angel investor Jeff Clavier, and Richard Wolpert. The firm said it now has over 4,000 Flash and Shockwave-based games on its web site.
