Online publisher Glam Media Inc. reported Tuesday that it has hired Yukihiro Yamamura as chief executive officer of its newly formed subsidiary, Glam Media Japan KK, the company's third international debut of the summer. Yamamura, who will double as vice president for the parent company, hails from Excite Japan, where he had served as CEO since 1999. Before that, Glam noted, he was CEO at DoubleClick Japan. Headquartered in New York City and Brisbane, Calif., Glam Media is a privately held company backed by Hubert Burda Media, GLG Partners, Accel Partners, DAG Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Walden Venture Capital and Information Capital. The company launched operations in the United Kingdom and Germany earlier this summer.
