Seagate Ups Density
Scotts Valley-based hard disk developer Seagate said today that it has begun shipping a new 7200 RPM drive which it claims has the world's largest areal density. According to Seagate, its new 1TB, Barracuda 7200.12 HD uses two disks to deliver its capacity, putting its areal density at 329 Gigabits per square inch. The new drive is targeted at desktop PC users and external storage. Seagate said the new 1TB drive provides Serial ATA interfaces, and will also be offered in 750GB and 500GB models.
