San Francisco-based document sharing website
Scribd said today that the firm has partnered with a number of publishers to upload preview chapters and excerpts from novels to the firm's site. According to Scribd, Random House, Simon & Schuster, Workman Publishing Co., Berrett-Koehler, Thomas Nelson and Manning Publications are among the publishers who will be using its service. The company said that the deal will help the publishers reach a new audience and create excitement around new books. Scribd is venture backed by Scribd is backed by Charles River Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Y Combinator, the Kinsey Hills Group, and angel investors.
