Scribd Launches Marketplace
San Francisco-based
Scribd
, which operates an online site for sharing documents, said Monday that it has launched the beta of a marketplace to allow writers to sell their works. According to Scribd, its new
Scribd Store
will give sellers 80% of the revenue derived from the sale of their work. The firm said that sellers can set their own prices for documents, or opt for an automated pricing system for their documents. Among partnerships in the launch is one with Lonely Planet, which is selling specific chapters of its travel guides through Scribd.
