Silicon Valley Firms Raise $1.16 Billion In Venture Capital
The latest venture capital numbers from PricewaterhouseCoopers/NVCA finds that Silicon Valley firms raised $1,159.6M in 173 deals for the quarter, as overall nationwide venture capital dropped to a twelve year low. The report found that there was $3.0 billion invested in 549 deals in the first quarter nationwide, the lowest level since 1997. According to the report, which is based on data from Thomson Reuters, the quarterly investment activity was down 47 percent in terms of dollars and 37 percent in terms of deals from the fourth quarter of 2008, when $5.7 billion was invested by venture capitalists.
