GigaOM, the new media firm headed by Om Malik, said today that it has
launched a new, paid subscription offering, which will offer long-form analysis and research. Malik said that it will charge $79 a year for access to technology briefings, notes, quarterly wrap ups, and other resources for readers. Malik, in explaining the service, said "even back in 2006, it was fairly obvious that you couldn't build a next-generation media entity by relying on advertising as your sole revenue source."
