Virsto Software, a developer of storage specifically designed for the virtual server market, said Thursday that the firm has raised $7M in a Series A funding round. The round was led by August Capital, and also included Canaan Partners, which originally seeded Virsto in 2008. According to the firm, Vivek Mehra of August Capital joins the company's board along with the funding. Virsto said it is developing data storage products specifically designed for virtual servers, which will be available sometime later this year. Virsto is headed by Mark Davis, who has served at Sun Microsystems, StorageTek, and Creekpath, amonth other firms.
