EBay Set To Sell Skype, Says Report
A report from the New York Times this morning says that EBay is about to announced that it has sold its Skype voice-over-IP service to a group of private investors headed by Andreessen Horowitz, the new venture capital fund headed by Marc Andreessen. Other firms believed to be in the deal include Index Ventures and Silver Lake Partners. No details on the value of the sale have been given. eBay acquired Skype for $2.6 billion in cash and stock in 2005.
