PMC-Sierra, a maker of semiconductor for the communications market, said Thursday afternoon that it has acquired
Wintegra, a developer of network processors optimized for mobile backhaul equipment. PMC-Sierra said it would pay $240M in cash, less an estimated net cash amount of $27M based on Wintegra's balance sheet at closing. The net purchase price is $213M. Wintegra has 165 employees, spread across Ra'anana, Israel, and Austin, Texas.
