VisionCare Opthalmic Technologies, which develops visual prosthetic devices designed to improve vision in patients with end-stage age-related macular degeneration (AMD), said this morning that it has raised another $31M in a Series E funding round. The round was led by Saints Capital, and also included Giza Ventures, Generali Financial Holdings, BSI SA, Pitango Venture Capital, Three Arch Partners, ONSET Ventures, and Newbury Acquisitions Fund/Infinity CSVC Management. Elka Nir of Giza joins the firm's board as part of the funding. The firm said the funding will go towards launching its medical device, for sales and marketing, as well as research and development.
