Palo Alto-based
VMware, the provider of system virtualization software, has taken over the
Mozy online backup service, the company said today. Mozy, which is owned by VMware parent EMC, is based in Seattle. According to VMware, it has acquired certain assets and the employees of Mozy, and will continue to operate the consumer service. However, VMware did say it would also be incorporating Mozy's technology into its enterprise offerings. Financial details of the move were not announced.
