NGINX Gains $3M, Heads To San Francisco
NGINX, a developer of open source web server software, reported Tuesday that it has raised $3M in a Series A funding round, and will set up a new headquartesr in San Francisco. The firm, which is based in Moscow, said the round came from BV Capital, Runa Capital, and an entity affiliated with MSD Capital, the private investment firm of Dell Inc. Chairman and CEO Michael S. Dell. NGINX develops an open source web server specifically aimed at high volume websites. The firm said its software is being used by such companies as Facebook, Zappos, Groupon, LivingSocial, Hulu, Wordpress, and others. NGINX said it expects to open its new headquarters in San Francisco by Q4.
