Mountain View-based
Skybox Imaging, which provides satellite imagery, video, and data analytics software, said Tuesday that it has raised $70M in a Series C funding round. The round was led by Canaan Partners and Norwest Venture Partners, and also included Khosla Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners. Skybox, which is headed by Tom Ingersoll, is developing high-resolution microsatellites, which it is planning to launch in Q4 of 2012. Those satellite systems are expected to offer high definition video imaging of the Earth, which will be fed into a Hadoop cluster to process, extract, and interpret those videos. The firm said it has now raised $91M in funding.
