Google Eyes Skybox Imaging
Mountain View-based Google is reportedly eyeing micro-satellite maker Skybox Imaging, offering to pay as much as $1 billion for the startup, according to multiple reports. Skybox Imaging offers up satellites used to transmit live, high definition video for intelligence and other uses. The startup is venture backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, Canaan Partners, Khosla Ventures, and Norwest Venture Partners. Skybox combines its real time imagery with Hadoop clusters for real time analysis of those images.
