Salesforce.com Buys Buddy Media For $689M
San Francisco-based Salesforce.com said this morning that it has acquired Buddy Media, a provider of social media marketing software, in a deal worth $689M. Salesforce said the deal was a combination of cash and equity, split beteen $467M in cash, $184M in Salesforce.com common stock, and $38M in vested Salesforce.com options and restricted stock units. The company said it will combined Buddy Media with recently purchase Radian6. Buddy Media was based in New York, and was backed by European Founders Fund, Greycroft Partners, IA Ventures, Institutional Venture Partners, and SoftBank Capital.
