Google has acquired a developer of malware and virus scanning technology,
VirusTotal, which operates a free, online service that analyzes suspicious files and URLS. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. VirusTotal said that it has become part of Google, a long-time partner, and will continue to operate independently. VirusTotal's tools are used to quickly identify viruses, worms, trojans, and other malware.
