3Scale announced Wednesday that it has raised $4.2M in a funding round, which will go towards its software API management and distribution service. The funding came from Javelin Venture Partners and Costanoa Venture Capital. 3scale operates a service to help companies monetize and distribute their application programming interfaces to other companies, helping companies meter access to their APIs, bill users for use of those interfaces, and more. 3scale said its customers include Skype, FlightStats, Wine.com, and many others.
