Jafco Ventures is rebranding the company, saying Monday that it has renamed itself
Icon Ventures, as the firm has shifted from its original backer, Japan's Jafco Co., to a larger base of limited partners. Icon Ventures has backed such companies as Aster Data, FireEye, 41st Parameter, Infinera, MoPub, Palo Alto Networks and Proofpoint, among many others. The firm says it now has more than twenty new limited partners across its five funds, which currently total more than $780M under management. The firm had originally been funded in 2003 with primarly Jafco Co., Ltd. as its LP.
