Orion Labs Finds $9M
San Francisco-based Orion Labs, a company developing personal communications devices which let users communicate as a group using voice, has raised $9M in a funding round. The funding came from Avalon Ventures and Motorola Solutions Venture Capital. Orion says it has now raised $16.25M in funding. The company's two way communications device essentially behaves like a push-to-talk (PTT) two way radio, but connects to a user's smartphone and does not have restrictions on physical proximity and group size. Motorola is a dominant player in the traditional, two-way radio market.
