Intel Buys Replay Technologies For 3D Sports Vision

said Tuesday that it has acquired
Replay Technologies
, a developer of technology for immersive, high resolution sports viewing. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. Replay Technologies developes a video format called "freeD", which uses Intel's technology to create 3-D video rendering of sporting events, allowing for broadcasting of 360 degree views of sporting replays, from nearly any angle. Replay Technologies was founded in 2011, and based in Israel. Replay's venture backers include Deutsche Telekom.
