Intel announced this morning that it has acquired computer vision startup
Movidius Technology, which is based in San Mateo, to bolsters the company's expertise in computer vision, behind such technology as navigation and mapping, collision avoidance, tracking, object recognition, and inspection analytics. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Intel said that the acquisition will provide it with a low-power, high-performance SoC platforms for accelerating computer vision applications. Movidius was venture backed by Atlantic Bridge, DFJ Esprit, Robert Bosch Venture Capital, Capital E, AIB Seed Capital Fund, and others.
