San Francisco- and Boulder, Colorado-based 3D scanning software developer
Occipital has acquired
Replica Labs, a fellow developer of 3D scanning software, the companies said on Thursday. Financial details on the buy were not announced by the companies. Occipital said the acquisition may lead to future release of its SDK, which could allow for reconstruction of scenes and objects in 3D, without the need for specialized, depth sensing hardware, which would potentially allow consumer smartphones to be used for 3D video capture. Occipital said that Replica Labs is now part of its Boulder office.
