San Francisco-based and Boulder-based Occipital, which develops 3D scanning and mapping software, has acquired Paracosm, a developer of LiDAR-based mapping software and technology for creating maps of large-scale spaces. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Paracosm's LiDAR technology combines visible camera tracking to map construction sites, with the ability to capture as much as an entire city block in 3D. Occipital said that the entire Paracosm team has joined the company, and all of Paracosm's technologies are also now part of the company.
